NFDI4DS Mini Hackathons at ZB Med 2024

Hackathons offer a space to create and develop ideas in a fast-paced collaborative environment during a couple of days. As part of the NFDI4DS project, ZB MED organizes hackathons around subjects related to metadata for research artifacts.

In 2024, we organized 2 hackathons.

Hackathon “Webby FDOs with RO-Crates and FAIR Signposting”

NFDI4DataScience is committed to FAIRness for research objects. Aligned to this, this year we are organizing an event from 20 to 22 Nov 2024 at ZB MED in Cologne for participants to find their way towards the implementation of FAIR Digital Objects for their own data using RO-Crates and FAIR Signposting.

This is an in-person event with limited places. Some fellowships are available.

Hackathon “A core maDMP for NFDI”

This hackathon is on machine actionable (ma) Data Management Plans (DMP) as well as Software Management Plans (SMP) It takes place at ZB MED Cologne from 2024.10.28 to 2024.10.30 from noon to noon

Topics covered:

• (i) finding a common core for maDMP across the different consortia,
• (ii) creating a metadata schema, based on schema.org, for the common core DMP and connect it to maSMPs
• (iii) other topics that you might be interested, e.g., integration of the core to RDMO (Research Data Management Organiser), plugins for RDMO to add metadata layer semi-automatically, creation of software to extract metadata, alignment with RDMC, bridging the gap on RDM between researchers and funding bodies
